Automated Rules run your routine campaign management for you — the checks you'd otherwise do by hand every morning.
Where to find it: Automations in the left menu, and the Automated Rules card on the campaign form.
What a rule is
A rule watches a condition and takes an action when it's met. Typical uses:
- Pause a placement that has spent past a threshold with no conversions.
- Cut the bid on sources performing below your target.
- Raise the bid on sources performing well.
- Pause a campaign that has run past a spend limit.
Everything is logged
Every action a rule takes is written to the Automated Rules log, with the campaign, the trigger and what changed. If a campaign looks different from how you left it, the log tells you exactly what moved it and when — this is also where AI Optimization records its own actions.
Rules vs AI Optimization
- Rules do exactly what you told them, at the thresholds you set. Free.
- AI Optimization works out the thresholds itself from your conversion data. +10% of spend.
Many advertisers run both: rules as hard safety limits, AI Optimization for the tuning inside them.
