Reddit Ads show an image post in Reddit feeds and conversations. You don't need a Reddit ad account: you create the campaign in PPCmate, PPCmate builds it on Reddit for you, and it's paid from your PPCmate balance. You pay per click.
At a glance
- Pricing: CPC. Choose Automatic bidding, or a Max CPC of at least $0.75.
- Budget: a daily budget of at least $5 a day, plus an end date. We stop the campaign for the day once it reaches your daily budget.
- Creative: one square image and a headline.
- Reach: 100M+ daily Reddit users.
Setting it up
- Go to Campaigns → New Campaign, pick Reddit (from the suggestions or under See all formats) and click New Reddit Ad.
- Create the creative (see below). A Reddit campaign only lists creatives made for Reddit.
- Choose your countries and targeting, set the daily budget and bidding, add an end date and save.
- PPCmate runs a pre-launch check (malware and brand-clone scan, no promised results, a category Reddit allows, text rules, image specs, and a landing page that works and matches the ad), then creates the campaign on Reddit. Reddit reviews the ad before it serves.
The creative
- Image: square 1:1, 1080 × 1080, JPG or PNG, up to 3 MB.
- Headline: up to 300 characters. Reddit shows about 100, so keep the important part first.
- Reddit shows a Learn more button that opens your landing page.
- Comments on Reddit ads are always off.
Bidding
- Automatic (the default for a new campaign): Reddit sets each bid to get the most clicks within your daily budget.
- Max CPC: you set the most you'll pay per click, at least $0.75. Reddit's suggested range for your targeting is shown under the field, with a warning if your CPC is below it.
Targeting available
- Location: countries (required), plus regions, metro areas and cities, and places to leave out. A region or city you pick replaces its whole country.
- Communities: people active in the subreddits you pick. Enter your landing page to get community suggestions, and add communities to leave out.
- Interests and Keywords (people reading conversations with those words), plus keywords to leave out.
- Gender. Reddit has no age targeting.
- Audience expansion (on by default): Reddit also shows the ad to people like the ones you picked.
- Devices: computers or mobile phones, phone system (iOS, Android), Where on Reddit (Reddit app, mobile website, desktop website), Placement (Feed, Conversations) and mobile carriers.
- Languages and day-parting.
The Audience size line estimates how many people your targeting reaches.
Conversion tracking
Conversion tracking works on Reddit campaigns. Add {CLICK_ID} to your landing URL (for example clickid={CLICK_ID}) and send your usual PPCmate postback when someone converts. Conversions then show in Reports, on your campaign list and on the dashboard.
Good to know
- Each campaign runs one ad, built from one approved creative.
- PPCmate network settings (pacing, frequency caps, inventory and quality lists, Bidding Goals) aren't shown on Reddit.
- Reddit campaigns can't run Offer Wall offers, because an offer link redirects to another website.
- No traffic? Run Campaign Health Check. On Max CPC, a bid below Reddit's suggested range may get few or no clicks. Switch to Automatic, raise the CPC, or add communities and countries.
